IIM Calcutta is among the top three management institutes in the country. It was founded in 1961 through a collaboration between the Government of India, the Government of West Bengal, the Alfred P. Sloan School of Management (MIT), the Indian industry, and The Ford Foundation, and offers various programs. These include Executive M.B.A, Executive PGP Visionary Leadership and Manufacturing, M.B.A, Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics, and Ph.D. Management.

Programs Offered by IIM C –
1. MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION-
The degree in management at the Post-Graduate level has a two-tier structure: it consists of a core curriculum (compulsory credit courses and compulsory non-credit courses), a summer internship (compulsory industry training between first and second year), and elective courses (optional courses in the second year). The first year is committed to developing business fundamentals through compulsory courses spanning the areas of economics, finance, marketing, operations, systems, and organizational behavior. The second year offers more electives than any other B-School in India, the flexibility ensuring that a student never makes a compromise with his desired area of pursuit. Students aspiring to delve deeper into topics can undertake term papers under faculty supervision.
2.MBA for Executives Programme
MBA for Executives Programme is IIM Calcutta’s one Year Full-Time Residential Programme meant for Executives with more than five years of professional experience. IIM Calcutta is the first management institute in the country to be Triple Crowned – to be accredited by AACSB, AMBA, and EQUIS, i.e., accredited by all the three major accreditation agencies in the world for management education. Only 5 other business schools in Asia and 73 business schools around the world are currently ‘Triple Accredited’.
3.Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA)
PGDBA is a two year full time residential diploma programme aimed at creating business analytics professionals employable by leading Indian and foreign firms. This programme is designed for those who have an analytical mindset, are interested in tackling challenging business problems, and possess an inclination towards mathematics. Some of the salient features of the programme include courses taught by reputed faculty members at the campuses of three globally renowned institutes, hands- on business analytics training at a related company, continuous interaction with industry leaders throughout the course of the diploma programme, and the availability of placement opportunities at all the three institutes jointly offering this programme.
4.PGPEX-VLM
The mission of the PGPEX-VLM is to develop future visionary leaders for the manufacturing sector in India to enhance the global competitiveness of our manufacturing sector.
PGPEX-VLM is a unique program that fulfills the current industry’s growing demand for techno-managerial leaders who shape the neo-industrial revolution. Laden with the latest management skills and cutting-edge technology knowledge, these vanguards are being readied for meeting the challenges offered by the new wave of business enterprises that thrive on information as they strive for the “Triple Bottom line”.
This one-year full-time residential program has a built-in manufacturing focus that helps to appreciate an industry’s metamorphosis in competitive times. The course is being conducted jointly by 3 premier institutes of India viz. IIM Calcutta, IIT Kanpur, and IIT Madras. The course has been designed by these institutes in consultation with industry, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, and the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
5.Doctoral
The Doctoral Programme of the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta was started in 1971. It is a full-time doctoral programme that offers students opportunities for advanced studies and research in different specializations related to Management Science. The Programme aims to prepare students for careers in teaching and research in management studies and in related disciplines, and for careers in the government, in industry, and in other organizations that require advanced analytical and research capabilities
IIM Calcutta Selection Process
1. Preliminary Screening
In CAT-2022 there will be three sections, viz., ‘Quantitative Aptitude’ (QA), ‘Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning’ (DILR), and ‘Verbal and Reading Comprehension’ (VRC). Only the candidates above the following minimum cut-offs in the sectional percentile ranks, the overall percentile rank, and obtaining a positive (greater than zero) raw score in all sections of CAT exam will be considered for all the subsequent stages.
2. Shortlisting for Analytical Writing Test (AWT) & Personal Interview (PI)
3. Final Selection
Selection at this stage will strictly be based on the shortlisting of the candidates done separately for each category (General/SC/ST/NC-OBC/PwD) on the basis of their ‘Final Composite Score’s (FCS). The numbers selected in different reservation categories will be in proportions mandated by law.
